Category Rules:

**For all age and categories**

Please read carefully and share with your child's instructor:

  • Safety mat is mandatory

  • No release moves; tricks where the entire body is released from contact with the apparatus before the apparatus is recaptured (Except for teen Lyra & Pre-Professional - Video submission of proficiency required)

  • Prizes awarded for 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place up in all age groups

  • 10 Participant per category maximum, if the minimum number of participants is not met (5) age groups will be merged appropriately.

  • No head first drop that ends with hanging by the ankles (Allowed in pre- professional)

  • No Jumping off the apparatus to finish the routine(I.e release jump/flips)

  • No Back flags or planches (Allowed in Pre-professional)

  • No Neck hangs (Allowed for Teens SILKS, ROPE & Pre-professional only)*

  • All Categories are solo performances except the duo category - Single point apparatus only

  • No excessive swinging off or around the mat for audience and performers safety

  • Homophobic, transphobic, culturally insensitive themes or themes/movement of a sexual nature are not permitted.

AGE CATEGORIES:

Mini: 8 to 11 years old

Youth: 12 - 14 years old

Teen: 15 - 17 years old

Pre-Professional: 17 -19

Duo: 8 to 16

AERIAL SILKS Category

Mini

  • No continuous drops allowed (drops that involve more than two full body rotations in any direction. e.g. Helicopter, Triple star, continuous Salto, etc). Sequential drops allowed.

  • No Open drop (where the performer has to catch themselves otherwise they would fall off)

  • No tied knots are allowed (no knot based moves)

  • Music must be between 2min and 3min Maximum

Junior

  • No continuous drops allowed (drops that involve more than three full body rotations in any direction) Helicopter, Triple star, continuous Salto, Tik Tok, etc. allowed, contact us if unsure - Sequential drops allowed.

  • No Open drop (where the performer has to catch themselves otherwise they would fall off)

  • No pre tied knots are allowed (no knot based moves)

  • Music must be between 2min and 3:30min Maximum

Teens (Silks OR Rope)

  • Continuous & Open drops are allowed - Please check with the committee for the height of ceiling before planning your routine (e.g. Helicopter, Triple star, continuous Salto, etc.)

  • No pre tied knots are allowed (no knot based moves)

  • Some Neck hang allowed (check with your instructor before including them in your routine!)

  • Music must be between 2min and 3:30min Maximum

LYRA & TRAPEZE Category rules

For all age categories :

  • All Lyra to be single point (no specialty Lyras)

  • No release moves i.e tricks where the entire body is released from contact with the apparatus before the apparatus is recaptured. (Mini & Youth category only)

  • No use of either Foot, or Hand Loops (Mini & Youth category only)

  • No Release dismounts or jump dismounts

  • Music must be between 2min and 3.30min Maximum

Mini & Youth

Competitors must be between 8 - 12 years old.

  • No advanced continuous rolls allowed E.g. lion, elbow rolls.

  • Monkey rolls (aka Russian Rolls), Mill wheels, Front balance rolls, 1 x Barrel roll etc are allowed

  • No heel or Neck hangs

  • Ankle hang are allowed

  • No use of either Foot, or Hand Loops (Mini & Junior category only)

Youth

  • Elbow Rolls and Barrel Rolls Allowed

  • Monkey rolls (aka Russian Rolls), Mill wheels, Front balance rolls are allowed

  • No Neck hangs

  • Ankle & Heel hang are allowed

  • No use of either Foot, or Hand Loops

Teens

Competitors must be between 13 - 16 years old.

  • Advanced continuous rolls allowed E.g. Lion rolls, Elbow rolls.

  • Monkey rolls (aka Russian rolls), Mill wheels, Front balance rolls, Forward or Backwards Barrel rolls are allowed

  • No Neck hangs

  • Ankle hang and heel hangs are allowed

  • Release moves are allowed i.e hand drop from top to bottom bar, illusion straddle to front balance.

Hammock Category rules

Mini

  • No advanced continuous rolls allowed E.g. elbow rolls.

  • No Release dismounts or jump dismounts

  • Music must be between 2min and 3min Maximum

Youth

  • Continuous Rolls allowed.

  • No Release dismounts or jump dismounts

  • Music must be between 2min and 3min Maximum

Teen

  • Advanced continuous rolls allowed E.g. lion rolls

  • No Release dismounts or jump dismounts

  • Music must be between 2min and 3min Maximum

Alternative Apparatus Category rules

For all age categories :

  • Allowed aparatus: Rope, Net, Tippy Lyra, Mini Lyra, Contortion Loop, Straps, etc. (must be single point)

  • No release moves i.e tricks where the entire body is released from contact with the apparatus before the apparatus is recaptured. (Mini & Youth category only)

  • No use of either Foot, or Hand Loops (Mini & Youth category only)

  • No Release dismounts or jump dismounts

  • Music must be between 2min and 3.30min Maximum

  • Will be determined once entry have openned and ages have been divided.

  • Apparatus must be submitted and approved before September 1st.

Pre-Professional Category rules

Competitors must be between 17 - 19 years old.

  • Participant can perform on the apparatus of their choice (Silks, Lyra, Trapeze, Hammock, Rope)

  • Performers will be judged on performance quality, fluidity, performance concept and technique.

  • Rules for all categories applies

  • Minimum of 6 entries to go ahead.

  • Individual performance only

  • Music must be between 2min and 4min Maximum

Duo Category rules

Open

Competitors must be between 8 - 16 years old.

  • 2 Performers only

  • Apparatus to be approved by committee

  • General Rules apply

  • Music must be between 2min and 4min Maximum
