Category Rules:

**For all age and categories** :

- Safety mat is mandatory

- No release moves; tricks where the entire body is released from contact with the apparatus before the apparatus is recaptured (Except for teen Lyra & Pre-Professional - Video submission of proficiency required)

- Prizes awarded for 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place up in all age groups

- 8 Participant per category maximum, if the minimum number of participants is not met (5) age groups will be merged appropriately.

- No head first drop that ends with hanging by the ankles

- No Jumping off the apparatus to finish the routine(I.e release jump/flips)

- No Back flags or planches

- No Neck hangs

- All Categories are solo performances except the duo category

- Single point apparatus only

-No Swinging off the mat

AERIAL SILKS Category

Mini

Competitors must be between 8 - 10 years old.

- No continuous drops allowed (drops that involve more than two full body rotations in any direction. e.g. Helicopter, Triple star, continuous Salto, etc). Sequential drops allowed.

 - No Open drop (where the performer has to catch themselves otherwise they would fall off)

- No pre tied knots are allowed (no knot based moves)

Junior

Competitors must be between 11 - 13 years old.

- Some continuous drops allowed (drops that involve more than three full body rotations in any direction) Helicopter, Triple star, continuous Salto, Tik Tok, etc. allowed, contact us if unsure - Sequential drops allowed.

 - No Open drop (where the performer has to catch themselves otherwise they would fall off)

- No pre tied knots are allowed (no knot based moves)

Teens (Silks OR Rope)

Competitors must be between 14 - 16 years old.

- Some continuous drops are allowed - Please check with the committee for the height of ceiling before planning your routine (e.g. Helicopter, Triple star, continuous Salto, etc.)

- No pre tied knots are allowed (no knot based moves)

-Neck hang allowed (check with your instructor before including them in your routine!)

-Open Drops Allowed

LYRA Category rules

For all age categories :

- All Lyra to be single point (no specialty Lyras)

- No release moves i.e tricks where the entire body is released from contact with the apparatus before the apparatus is recaptured. (Mini & Junior category only)

- No use of either Foot, or Hand Loops (Mini & Junior category only)

- No inverts on the strop/sling/rope - i.e catchers above the hoop (Mini category only)

- No inverts on the strop/sling/rope - i.e catchers above the hoop (Mini category only)

- No Release dismounts or jump dismounts

Youth

Competitors must be between 8 - 12 years old.

- No advanced continuous rolls allowed E.g. lion, elbow rolls. 

- Monkey rolls (aka Russian Rolls), Mill wheels, Front balance rolls, 1 x Barrel roll etc are allowed 

- No heel or Neck hangs

- Ankle hang are allowed

- No use of either Foot, or Hand Loops (Mini & Junior category only)

Teens

Competitors must be between 13 - 16 years old.

- Advanced continuous rolls allowed E.g. Lion rolls, Elbow rolls. 

- Monkey rolls (aka Russian rolls), Mill wheels, Front balance rolls, Forward or Backwards Barrel rolls are allowed

- No Neck hangs

- Ankle hang and heel hangs are allowed

- Release moves are allowed i.e hand drop from top to bottom bar, illusion straddle to front balance.

Trapeze Category rules

Youth

Competitors must be between 8 - 12 years old.

- No advanced continuous rolls allowed E.g. lion, snake, elbow rolls. 

- Continuous Monkey rolls (Maximum 3 rotations), Mill wheels, Front balance rolls, etc are allowed 

- No heel Hangs

- Foot/Ankle hang are allowed

Teen

Competitors must be between 13 - 16 years old.

- Advanced continuous rolls allowed E.g. Lion rolls, Elbow rolls. 

- Monkey rolls (aka Russian rolls), Mill wheels, Front balance rolls, Forward or Backwards Barrel rolls are allowed

- No Neck hangs

- Ankle hang and heel hangs are allowed

Hammock Category rules

Youth

Competitors must be between 8 - 12 years old.

 - No Open drop (where the performer has to catch themselves otherwise they would fall off, noting that most hammock drops are open, open drops outside the loop are not allowed)

- No advanced continuous rolls allowed E.g. elbow rolls. 

Teen

Competitors must be between 13 - 16 years old.

 - No Open drop (where the performer has to catch themselves otherwise they would fall off, noting that most hammock drops are open, open drops outside the loop are not allowed)

- Advanced continuous rolls allowed E.g. Elbow rolls. 

Pre-Professional Category rules

Competitors must be between 17- 19 years old.

- Open Category

- Participant can perform on the apparatus of their choice (Silks, Lyra, Trapeze, Hammock, Rope)

- Performers will be judge on performance quality, fluidity, performance concept and technique.

- Rules for all categories applies

- Minimum of 6 entries to go ahead.

Duo Category rules

Open

-Competitors must be between 8 - 17 years old.

- 2 Performers on ONE apparatus only 

- Apparatus to be approved by committee
