Which apparatuses can compete in AYAC?

AYAC has 3 apparatus categories: Silks, Lyra, Trapeze and Hammock, a duo category and a pre-professional category both open.

Who provides the apparatus?

AYAC provides an Aerial Silk, a 800mm Lyra and 900mm Lyra and 8m Aerial Hammock and a standard dance Trapeze. Duo competitor and pre-professional may need to bring their own apparatus, all self supplied apparatus have to be hung from a single point and will be safety checked.

How much does it cost to enter?

There is a $65 competitor fee per single category entered. $95 for duo category, the fee covers both participants\

How do you win?

The Judges will score your routine as you perform it you will be given this score at the end of all the performances in your apparatus category. The highest score in each age and apparatus category will be awarded the 1st place, second highest score 2nd place and third highest score 3rd place.

Can I apply for multiple apparatus categories?

Yes you can, you are allowed to apply for up to two categories. For example, you can apply for Silks and Trapeze.

How many judges are there?

There are 3 judges judging each routine.

Does a judge score their own students who are competing?

No, we asked them to provide a list of students they have taught in the previous three months to ensure that the judging is impartial.

What is the fabric used for the Aerial Silks category?

Low Stretch Nylon Tricot provided by Aerial Silks NZ.

Will I receive feedback form the Judges?

At the end of each apparatus category once you have been told your score you will also have a chance to see the judging notes, if any for your routine.
